Serial Number 7827/8
Pair of David McKay Brown Round Action Trigger Plate Side by Side Game Guns in 16 gauge. Self opening ejector guns, with two triggers, and automatic safeties.
Stocked in a very well laid out and nicely matching walnut with straight hand grips and splinter forends with push rod forend latches. Each gun has a 14 5/8” LOP over checkered butts and the gold ovals are engraved with the initials “RKW”.
Each gun features 29” barrels with smooth concave game ribs, 2 3/4" chambers, and are choked Improved Cylinder and Light Modified with 2003 London proof marks and were finished in 2004.
The engraving is recorded in the ledger as "Fine Scroll with Pheasant"; the engraving is a bold Italian ornamental scroll pattern with the Maker’s name inlaid in gold on the bottom of each receiver and arching over cameo game scenes of flushing pheasants, the fences have carved flower bouquets; the engraving is signed “Inc. Creative Arts”. The highly detailed engraving is wonderfully executed and displays nicely against the brushed finish receivers. The serial numbers and “SAFE” are also inlaid in gold same as the traditional numbers “1” and “2” on the forend iron, top rib, and top lever.
An exceedingly rare pair of guns, as the 16 bores are the least produced by McKay Brown and only about a dozen pairs of 16 bores have been produced. Guns are new and unfired in the Maker’s two gun leather case.
