James Purdey & Sons 12g Beesley Patent Self Opening Side by Side Sidelock Ejector Game Gun Two Barrel Set. According to the Purdey ledgers, finished in October 1926 for "Raja Nanpara" and still in its original configuration including Purdey's single trigger.
Both sets of Sir Joseph Whitworth Fluid steel barrels are in original proof with 2 5/8" chambers, perfect bores and good wall thickness. Each set has a smooth concave game rib; the 28" barrels are choked 1/4 & 1/2 and the 26" barrels are choked improved cylinder and 1/4. The action retains 80% to 90% of its original case colors and is a wonderful example of between the war rose & scroll engraving from Purdey's. Safe is inlaid in gold with platinum lined cocking indicators. Well figured and dark, the stock has a straight hand grip measuring 13 3/4" over a checkered butt with a single splinter forend for the two barrels.
This gun is in remarkable original condition save for re-blacked barrels over some pitting on the outside of the 28" barrels only. Overall a stunning original between the wars Purdey ready to hunt.
