Pre WWI J. Rigby & Co. Best Quality Sidelock Ejector Double Rifle in .470 3 1/4" NE. This rifle was finished in 1912 and features classic dipped-edge lock plates, carved fences, and wonderful period engraving. The gun has ejectors, disk set strikers and an automatic safety. Rare to find, this rifle features a spade head shaped rib extension and patent screw grip third bite. The 28” chopper lump barrels have excellent bores. Quarter rib is hand filed and has a standing Express sight with two folding leaves, all platinum lined, and marked "50 yds" "100" and 150" respectively. Original stock has a full pistol grip and a horn grip cap, with drop points, flat top checkering, and a Silvers pad. The gun retains the original Anson push rod forend latch and forend iron, but has a replacement beavertail shaped forend. Mostly gray receiver has traces of case colours in protected areas, the gun is tight on face, ejectors are timed and strong aA very rare and well made gun ready to hunt.
