Stock is reinforced with an extended top strap and the rolled trigger bow also has an extended tang. The receiver is in a bright finish with well-cut Purdey Rose & Scroll, gold lined cocking indicators and the words “SAFE” and “BOLTED” as well as the serial number are inlaid in gold.
Chopper lump 23” bbls with rib extension third grip, quarter rib with two folding leaf rear sights and claw mounts along with Purdey’s distinctive “clam” shell front sight protector and flip up moon sight. The factory mounted S&B 1.5-6x42mm scope rest in a one-piece Purdey scope mount appropriately engraved and serial numbered to the rifle.
The well laid out walnut stock is very nicely figured with a full pistol grip and trap grip cap, leather pad, a blank gold oval and drop points. Purdey’s unmistakable beavertail forend has an Anson push rod.
Proofed in 1994 and completed in 1997, this rifle is pictured in Donald Dallas’ “Purdey Gun and Rifle Makers, The Definitive History” as this is a relatively rare gun. All in all a well-made and rare gun in a very desirable configuration.
