Serial Number 2288
A custom rifle by Griffin & Howe Inc of New York using an original August Francotte “PD” action Farquharson Falling Block Single Shot chambered in .375 Flanged and built circa 1952.
The rifle’s barrel and action have the original blue finish, color hardening on the lever and butt plate and original oil finish on the stock. The rifle has an arabesque scroll engraving in a diamond pattern done by Fugger.
Quarter rib is engraved to match the action and dovetailed for quick detachable lever lock G&H rings w/ a J. Unertl 4X Hawk period correct scope. The 26” barrel has G&H’s classic banded/hooded ramp sight and is marked “2288 Griffin & Howe Inc. New York”.
The two piece stock still displays the heavier stock shape common on G&H rifles post WWII and has an ebony forend tip, with G&H shadowline right hand cheekpiece, a full pistol grip all checkered in the classic G&H point pattern. G&H steel sling swivel posts on the butt and forend. The butt stock has a 13 1/8” LOP over a steel trap butt that is engraved to match the receiver and color hardened to match the lever. In the trap a quick detachable peep sight is precisely fitted and stored when the telescopic sight is in place. Finally, the grip cap is color hardened and engraved to match the receiver and the stock oval is engraved “W.L.L”.
Overall, the rifle is in excellent original condition and is a very rare (only G&H Farq I've ever encountered).
